How The Segulah Began

The story of Rebbe Meir goes back over 2,000 years ago. He became known as the ‘Miracle Maker’ when he saved his sister-in-law from captivity from the Romans. Using what would later become a legendary mantra, Rebbe Meir called out ‘’G-d of Meir answer me’’ and his sister-in-law and the warden who released her were saved.

After that, it became a tradition to invoke the memory of Rebbe Meir Baal Hanes and give charity in his name, while saying the mystical words.

The office of Rebbe Meir Baal Hanes Charities gets swamped with daily stories of misplaced valuables that were found, sicknesses that were healed, business deals that succeeded, Shidduchim that finally happened, healthy children that were born, and many more wondrous stories with happy endings – all after evoking the merits of Rebbe Meir.

Rebbe Meir’s gravesite is always full of Jews from all over who want to tap into the powers of the legacy Rebbe Meir has left us, in addition to people that have come to show gratitude for the Yeshuos they had through Rebbe Meir’s prayers.

The anniversary of the Rabbi’s death is a particularly busy day at the Kever. And it’s not surprising, considering the amount of people that are helped annually after praying on the Yahrtzeit day.

Jewish tradition teaches us that a Tzaddik’s power is strongest on the day of his Yahrtzeit. That is when his soul transcends into higher spheres in heaven and prayers said in his merit can bring supernatural miracles to all those in need.

And so, when we hear stories of Yahrtzeit day Yeshuos, we are not surprised. Because we take it for granted that prayers at the Kever of Rebbe Meir on this day will be answered!
